Visual Effects Demo Reel -- April 2009 Neil Victor Grey 1.613.276.6345 neil.grey@hotmail.com neilvictor.com 1. "Helicopter Interior" This piece consists of 5 full composite shots showing first the final product, then the original footage for each respectively. Techniques utilized included 3D Modeling, Match Moving, Texturing, Animation, Lighting, Rendering, Compositing. Software packages utilized include: Autodesk Maya 2009, 2d3 Boujou, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Photoshop. 2. "Spooky Eyes" Utilizing primarily Adobe After Effects CS4, this piece involved rotoscoping alpha masks over the eyes of the actor, then replacing them with secondary footage and adding specular highlights. 3. "Natural Landscape" The environment for this piece was built in e-on software's Vue 7 xStream. The environment was then imported into Autodesk Maya 2009 where the helicopters were animated around the landscape. 4. "Automotive Modeling" This piece was modeled and textured in Autodesk Maya 8.5. The model was build according to the specifications of Digital Tutor's Automotive Modeling Techniques Tutorial. The environment was then created to provide an HDR lighting setup to provide proper reflections off of the car. 5. "MEL Particles" Developed completely in MEL script (Maya Embedded Language) this piece demonstrates and ability to procedurally generate a particle system using Maya's scripting tools.
