A jam is an open time for anyone to come and practice at a spot. Back in the day, people had jam sessions in parks, garages and open public spaces. It is the fundamental building block of any deep scene because dancing didn't only happen in classes, on stage or in front of mirrors. It happened with friends and with strangers on a park basketball court, in a popular club or at a school gym. Every city with a deep dance scene has spots all over the city for open jam sessions. It's fundamental for a city to have them for progress. Classes, Performance Events, Battle Events, Recitals and Workshops are all important, but fundamentally, essentially, necessarily, the absence of open session and jam spots really slows down progress. Like open mic night for singers, or free music jam sessions for musicians, or streetball for ballers, these jam session times are fundamental for them to have their scene. And we need ours too.
