You're watching multisource tech video news analysis from Newsy.iPadâs â selling like candy â or at least thatâs what they are saying. Reports from Black Friday are in â and Appleâs iPad killed it. Some are buying the apple hype â while others remain skeptical of the report. On ABCâs Good Morning America â a technology contributor notes Apple did offer $41 off for Black Friday. But it also says Apple will be stingy with sales in the future, so buy only if you have to.âI would not expect to see any more sales from Apple, we have not seen discounting of this in any way the retail outlets. So I think if you need for the holidays, buy. But keep in mind that the iPad is due for an upgrade in 2011. I think youâll see a camera on the next generation, and you may see a price drop in the first generation iPad. So if you can wait, wait.â According to Piper Jaffray analyst named Gene Munster, Appleâs iPad remains one of the hottest holiday purchases despite the lack of big sales. Mobile Burn brings some Black Friday numbers. âApple sold 8.8 iPads per store per hour during its November 26 Black Friday sale last week. Munster said that those figures are in line with his estimate that Apple will sell 5.5 million iPads during the quarter ⦠Whitmore surveyed 100 Apple stores and 50 resellers and said that "iPads are still selling like crazy."But a writer for Tech crunch says whoa, hold on buddy. âAccording to Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster (you know, the guy who is usually wrong), Apple is selling a whole mess of MacBook Airs and iPads this year. Sadly, his assessment is based on seven hours spent in Apple stores across the countryâ¦âBut Shaw Wu, of Kaufman Brothers says his company tracked foot traffic and sales from the big holiday and notes there appears to be good times ahead for Apple.âDespite modest discounts by AAPL itself ⦠we found particular strong uptake of iPad, iPod and MacBook Air. While the Black Friday weekend typically accounts for approximately 10% of holiday sales, we nonetheless view it as a fairly important indicator of trends.âBut what about Cyber Monday? Is Apple offering more deals on the internet holiday? An anchor for KTTV in Los Angeles says she canât find any.âIâve been online looking all morning, since 4:30, and Iâve been looking at all the deals. Some pretty good stuff, but the iPad is not on sale, I donât know why.âGet more multisource tech video news analysis from Newsy. Hide
