Sure enough, the people being detained are four of his students: Yuna, Akira, Ako, and Makie, whom until now, had no idea of his magic abilities. But before he has the time to do anything, he is suddenly attacked by Fate Averruncus, whom he had also fought in Kyoto. Though gravely injured by Fate's initial attack, Negi manages to fight back after Asuna uses a combination of her magic-cancel ability and brute force to release his Pactio Cards and weapons from their sealed container. Konoka manages to heal Negi's injuries with her Pactio Artifact but Fate still delivers several attacks before leaving the scene with a parting blow which destroys the Gateport. The backlash of the attack scatters Negi and his students across the Magic World, hundreds of miles away.When the young wizard regains consciousness, he finds himself stranded in a large rainforest in the magical world with only Chachamaru by his side. Chachamaru informs him that it will be a difficult journey finding the rest of the students that accompanied Negi when Fate Averruncus used 'forced teleportation magic' Negi and Chachamaru have started out on a long journey to find their missing comrades. They have already found Chisame and Kotaro, but when they finally reach a town, Negi finds a lost AA badge, and discovers that he is wanted for involvement in the destruction of the gate, with a 300,000 Dp bounty on his head, and smaller ones for some of his students. He and Kotaro once again assume their teenage forms, while Chisame and Chachamaru take younger appearances, (by way of Age Deceiving Pills). After asking around for the other girls, the group is shocked to discover that Natsumi Murakami, whom he hadn't even known had followed them to the Magic World, had been seen in the area. Since finding the town they have also found Kazumi, carrying Sayo. Ako, Akira and Natsumi were also located. However, as the three are currently bound by magical contract as indentured servants, Negi and Kotaro must win a fighting tournament in order to pay off their debts, while Takamichi Takahata and Tatsumiya Mana have just arrived to the magic world. After a spectacular debut bout, Negi causes an uproar in the stadium by using the alias of 'Nagi Springfield.' It is his hope that his father's famous name will bring great publicity, thereby attracting the attention of the missing White Wing members, and also allow for him and Kotaro to get in more training. Negi and Kotaro continue to easily win matches, and a mysterious man is shown observing them and criticizing Negi's fighting style. Negi is approached by the man, who offers to teach him a finishing strike for money. While the discussion is going on, a mysterious and extremely powerful mask-wearing Shadow-magic user arrives, calling himself "Kagetaro of Bosporos". He proceeds to attack Negi and wound him, although superficially, and Negi realizes, gradually that Kagetaro is really trying to kill him (which seems to galvanize him), and starts fighting back, startling Kagetaro with his enormous magical power. Natsumi is then shown distressed, saying that Negi was seriously wounded outside, and may not make it. Negi is then brought in for magical surgery. Though it was sure that his life would be saved it is shown that his arm was cut off and other deep wounds were made around his body. After 2 days of being asleep he wakes up with a jolt and sees Ako beside his bed. As Ako changes Negi's bandages, she starts crying and announces her guilt at causing all the trouble that is happening. After comforting her Negi steps outside and has a flashback of how the fight went. In his flash back Negi is losing the fight against Kagetaro. But before he and Kagetaro could deliver their last moves, a man interferes and stops their punches saying that he will be taking charge of the match. Kagetaro recognizes him as a member of Ala Rubra=Crimson Wing(Nagi's group).
