Dear Dr. Phil, I have now been traveling over a year. After too many deaths of family, friends, and co-workers, and facing the empty nest, I decided to fly the coop and sold my home to hit the road and explore this wonderful country. I was only on the road a short period of time when I learned, via voice mail, that a close friend of mine back home died. Then within the next couple of months I learned two friends and a dear cousin were diagnosed with breast cancer. The summer before leaving one of my cousins' died of breast cancer. Hmmm, am I actually running away from something or traveling toward something. I joking say "I can't run fast enough or far enough". Some times I wonder if I am in mourning as I greatly miss my Mother, sister and sister-in-law whom have all passed on. I think it would be of great benefit to many people for you to do a show on mourning and over coming grief. Anyways, that is not my purpose in writing you, my purpose is, wanting to let you know how your show gives me a connection to "home". When I was land based I was I loyal listener of your show, now while on the road I always look forward to, stopping, setting up the satellite dish, and having that feeling of being "at home" that your "Dr. Phil" show gives me. You can't imagine how long the weekends get waiting for your next show on Mondays :)). It took two years of planning and down sizing preparation before actually "hitting the road". I have been to places where the scenery makes you stand and gawk in awe, places that are so beautiful you want to cry and others that are just so inspiring you have to dance. The best part of my travels, thus far, has been all the new wonderful friends I have met. It is incredible how one can meet new people and feel so close and connected and, I am sure to remain friends in our hearts for many years to come. I have my moments when I miss "home" but that all goes away when I can sit down and see your familiar face, handsome I might add, and enjoy the professional no nonsense counseling you offer along with good common sense ... we have never differed in opinion. I have contemplated on making a sign to hang on my door to say, "Do not disturb, Dr. Phil consult in session". As this maybe misinterpreted I usually just lock the door and pretend I am not at home ... that may also be misinterpreted ... oh well! As you can see from our video, (our as in, Satin & I, my little travel companion seen in the video), home is anywhere our van stops. The old saying "home is where the heart is", rather for us, "Home is when the "Dr. Phil" show is on"!. Gotta go, Dr. Phil is coming on! We love you Dr. Phil, Thanks from the Gypsies, Hazel & Satin I have a Christmas wish, it is, if you can, please express a Merry Christmas to you, Robin and your family, your staff, everyone listening and to my many new road friends, all my friends and family back home and especially to my first new granddaughter Maya, Merry Christmas from, Hazel & Satin.
