After taking her on with Akaitsuki and Misuzu, I figured it was time to take on Patchouli with Akiha. However, the difference from last time is that I re-edited patchy to be able to access her boss mode again, making the battle significantly more difficult and tedius. Here's what you're up against Patchouli is an IaMP character, with grazing ability (allows IaMP characters to run through projectiles unscatched), and a ton of projectile moves that gives them an upperhand at ranged combat. Patchy herself specializes completely in projectile use. Her melee skills are mediocre, and predictable, but from afar, she's a devastating character to face. Many of her attacks, such as where she shoots a lot of fire, home in on you, which proves to be extremely annoying when closing in. Another problem is that Patchy can keep using her magical projectiles until her Projectile meter (displayed at the top right) goes completely down. At this point, she is forced to fight melee style, making it easy to pick her off. If you think she's done there, you were wrong. After losing one round, and getting her health low enough, Patchy activates her Boss Spell cards, which give her new attacks that require different strategies for each one. In addition, she heals to full health. The first Boss phase grants her a new fire move, which is borderline unavoidable, but deals hardly noticable chip damage. She can use this EVEN if her Projectile Meter is down, so it makes approaching her difficult no matter what. She has hyper armor during this move as well. Phase Two: bubbles start spawning around her, and will explode shortly after touching him, creating a tall, potent geyser that ALSO makes it hard to approach Patchy. She also loses her fire pillar move, and gains a move where she shoots multiple small bubbles that push you back if left ungaurded. Once again, making it hard to aproach her. She has hyper armor during this move as well. Phase Three: This is where Patchy becomes borderline impossible to approach. In this phase, Patchy loses her bubbles and bubble beam move, and gets a new move where she spins around, blowing you away, and at the same time, shooting twisters at you. These twisters, like all the other Boos only attacks, do small chip damage. She has hyper armor during this as well. Final Phase: This is where Patchy goes to her last resort move. She's completely invulnerable during this phase, but with this Boss Spell card, she also ends up KOing herself if she doesn't KO you in time. She shoots beams of light that go in various directions determined by the warning signs. If you come in contact with one of these without blocking, you will be knocked out instantly. However, if you are to guard these, you'll basically be doing a dumb move, because then you get infinited, but cannot be KOd no matter what. This lasts until Patchy goes into a glitch where she does absolutely nothing, but still remains invincible, making it impossible to win OR lose the match. DO NOT be ashamed to press F4 on this part if this happens Hide

Note: This is not a challenge fight, it is a display fight, which is why I purposly unjunction my Strength stat and toned down my junctions. And read the tiny FAQ at bottom if you're wondering how you can not level up or how to get Lion Heart on Disc 1. Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thXyGKffwW4 Here is part 2. Boy have I not done much lately, due to Super Smash Bros Brawl finally being released in Japan and tons of information out on it over the last three days. The game is looking really great and much much longer than Melee, despite what the whiny babies say just because their favorite characters didn't get in. But anyway, not going to spoil anything on it, as I'm sure some people still want to be surprised by the roster. Anyway, back to FFVIII. This is the final boss of Disc 2, which is once again Edea. This time, Seifer attempts to fight again, although weakened. You should have no problem with him now. Edea on the other hand you have to be a tad careful with. Her Maelstrom move is like Gravija. It will take HP by a certain percentage (I'm not sure if it's 3/4ths like Gravija, but it's close to that if not). So that means don't bother fully healing everyone in case she uses it again. Heal one or two, depending on how confident you feel. The other downside to Maelstrom is it infincts Curse, which prevents you from doing Limit Breaks. If you have a Status Defense Junction against it (like Squall did), it'll not Curse you. But since Edea has Esunas to Draw from, just Draw Cast Esunas if you want to cure it. Don't forget to Draw Alexander, as it's a somewhat useful GF to Junction. But yea, don't freak out over Maelstrom move, as it can't kill you (okay I didn't actually test this, but Gravija can't kill you so I assume it works the same). I'm not really sure what other moves she may have, but she just tried to Silence Squall. I didn't feel like making the fight last any longer to see what backup moves she has. Oh, and if you're curious why I keep toggling the menu for Squall, it's to invoke his Limit Break. When your HP is in critical, or close to critical, there's a certain percentage chance that the Limit will pop up. The probability depends on stuff like how much HP is left, if Squall has status ailments, etc. If it doesn't show up and you think you're close enough to invoke it, you can spam Triangle button to make the menu reload (usually it toggles between players) until a Limit pops up. Of course, that doesn't work if you're Cursed. Also, the probability is very very slim if your HP isn't less than half. As for Rinoa, if you're curious what happened to her I'll spoil it, since I'm not uploading any videos that explain it. Basically you find out that Edea has been possessed by Ultimecia, a sorceress from the future. Edea's powers end up going straight to Rinoa and Rinoa becomes a sorceress that Ultimecia can possess. However, she's basically in a coma for over half of Disc 3, and no major bosses pop up in this time, so I'm not recording any fights (although I was debating recording the Laguna Ruby Dragon thing, but didn't). -- Q: How do you not level up? Aren't there forced fights that give you exp? A: Well, bosses don't give you exp (as you see in the video). Soldier fights do, but if you cast Break on them, to petrify them, you don't get exp. If you use the Card ability on monsters, you don't get exp from them either. Q: How do you learn Card ability without leveling up? A: Use Seifer when he's in your Party at Dollet. KO Squall and Zell and let Seifer level up the GFs and their abilities (Ifrit needs to be LV10 if you want Lion Heart on disc 1). Since Seifer never joins the Party again, it still counts as a no level game. It's impossible if you don't do this. Q: How did you get spells like Meltdown, Tornado, Quake, etc, this early on? A: Same as above, mass playing the Card game. Things like an Abyss Worm card mod into a Windmill which refines into 20 Tornados, and a Gayla card mods into Mystery Fluid which mods into 10 Meltdowns. Curse Spike from Tri-face card mods into 10 Pains, Quakes from Dino Bones, etc. You can get tons of decent magic just from card playing, though it takes time. That is why my gameplay time is at 20 hours. Q: How the hell can you get Lion Heart on Disc 1? A: www.gamefaqs.com for more info. Basically, you get an Adamantine from modding one of the Brothers cards, then 4 Dragon Fangs from killing a low level Grendel (card it). And the 12 Pulse Ammo are a complete pain in the ass. You gotta win 20 Elnoyle cards (this'll take at least 5 hours to pull off), then mod them into 2 Energy Crystals, which mods into 20 Pulse Ammo. Also, make sure you got Ifrit to level 10 with Seifer in Dollet or else he can't learn his Ammo RF ability. Q: I still don't think any of this is possible. Where's the proof? A: www.gamefaqs.com. Try to be less ignorant. Hide
